SPAN 306: Introduction to Hispanic Literature
WLC 400 - WLC Major Capstone (pending Spring 2019)
SPAN 301: I call this class a motivation class. I had the opportunity to see documental films and poems of people who always motivate people, sometimes they make you cry about their testimonies. We also saw several poems by Argentine authors. The class was also very exciting and I had to make a presentation on gender discrimination. For a final presentation was the theme of identity for the reason that we saw a very strong documentary about the dictatorship in Argentina in the late 70s where the government kidnaps pregnant women with their partners and after mothers gave birth to murdered and children gave them up for adoption. Thanks to the grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo, around 100 children have been recovered captive by the Argentine dictatorship. For my final presentation, I decided to talk about a movie called "Captive" precisely it speaks of a girl who was adopted and at age 16 Dinah realized that her true identity was not who she thought she was. It was very interesting because there were classmate exhibits of their identity of the place where they were born. Traditions of their place of origin and food. Without forgetting the contest of poems of discrimination against the LGBT community, the majority did a good job, I see the winners. My classmate shared his poem with the rest of the class for me he was very professional. How you see was a very interesting class. It is good to learn a little from each student, each student has their talent to communicate. Finally, it was a class that always left motivated.
SPAN 304: Is my first semester in my began with literature class, honestly I don't have experience with literature but I like the narrative and poems, I like the interpretation of the narrative and poems. One thing that I learned in class I had the opportunity wrote many narratives for example writer Juan Rulfo his narrative "No oyes ladrar los perros" I liked wrote the narrative because talked about the father and son conversation. I learned about the importance that is family values. The narrative talked about the poor family that live in town. For "No oyes ladrar los perros" in class we sew the structure of the of the narrative, we sew the important points, for example the importance that is the family, symbols like moon, the dogs like hope, tear and more. Other thing that I learned was about the poems, I liked the interpretation of poems. One poem that I like from the poetry Rubén Darío his poem "El Cisne" (swan) on this poem the poetry used the Greek mites, describe "El Cisne" an elegant and a beautiful bird. He used the nature in his poem "El Cisne. I waiting learn for next semestre to develop and improve the essay because I don't have experience to made an essay. At Hartnell College I took a Spanish class we see little bit some novels but at CSUMB we sew the introduction of the literature and the parts of literature, there are complete different. For improve my literature I need more books about the literature. One experience and connect with literature I had the opportunity during the event "Día de los muertos" wrote a poem and reading with public. Other experience was the presentation on class, the presentation will help me a lot because I want to become a Spanish professor and I need to have experience to be on front of classroom.
SPAN 304: Introduction to Hispanic Literature: The class help me to know about the countries of Latino-america, something important the of ethnic groups, the important rivers, lakes, and oceans. The politics are important to know and that help me was the project that made about Puerto Rico and Dominic Republic. I learned a lot from this class.
WLC 400 Pending for Spring 2019. WLC 400 - WLC Major Capstone
First of all, in the WLC 400 Senior Capstone class it was a very interesting class for the reason that I had to make the "capstone project" a very difficult task. At the beginning of the class, I and my teammate Martha Mendez had to sign a contract that we are committed to working on the capstone project. The first thing I did was read the stories in relation to the research about "Gender Violence" or “Violencia de Género.” My teammate and I worked with the Mexican authors Elena Garro and Elena Poniatowska in the stories: El árbol, Los perros, La banca y Coatlicue. The Tree, The Dogs, The Bank and Coatlicue. After choosing the authors and the stories we began to look for secondary sources of the investigations that have been done in the aforementioned stories. I thought it would be easy to find secondary sources, because I had to ask for books from other universities or loans to start our literary review. For me the literary review was a bit more complicated for the reason that there was not enough material from the writer Elena Poniatowska. We asked for help from the library adviser and finally worked hard to finish the literary review. One of the things that I liked the most was the analysis of the stories because I like interpreting the writings and that I like about literature. Then also in the analysis, I liked finding the similes, tropes, characters, themes, rhetorical figures, symbols, open or closed endings and much more. Also, there was a presentation where the teachers evaluated the presentation of Capstone. Finally, the presentation of Capstone arrived and there was a presentation for the whole public. In the end, it is an unforgettable experience, that the procedure was not easy but in the end it is an experience that will help me as a reference.
