SPAN 300 - Pre-Capstone for Spanish Majors
Directed toward Spanish majors preparing for their Capstone experience, this 2 unit course aims to guide the student in the process of completing a capstone proposal and initiating the preliminary steps toward the graduation portfolio. The portfolio provides evidence that a student is making satisfactory progress toward meeting the Core requirements and Major Learning Outcomes (MLOs) for the Spanish B.A.

Directed toward Spanish majors preparing for their Capstone experience, this 2 unit course aims to guide the student in the process of completing a capstone proposal and initiating the preliminary steps toward the graduation portfolio. The portfolio provides evidence that a student is making satisfactory progress toward meeting the Core requirements and Major Learning Outcomes (MLOs) for the Spanish B.A.
Talking about Capstone is synonymous of research and a lot of dedication to a project. The Pre-Capstone class look easy to but it takes a lot of patience. First of all, for the Capstone project, it is primarily to have a "subject" or “tema” in mind Capstone question. One of the most complicated things is finding secondary sources the reason if are reliable. But thanks to the librarian who was assigned to the Spanish program, the search for secondary sources was a bit easier. For the Capstone projects we will work with two Mexican authors, they are Elena Garro and Elena Poniatowska. In their stories they give a value or importance to the woman of a machista. They also talk about gender violence and mainly the principal woman is the one who suffers. What the authors want to show is that it is a problem and that it must stop. To make an outline of literature one must read and understand the reading. Filling the scheme, something very important is that we have support from our professors who are very professional, so it will be a little easier to make a presentation of Capstone. In this semester we had the opportunity to organize the Capstone questions and the sources. Also in class there were brief group presentations in class. One of the things that I liked that the teacher assigned to work two groups that had a connection two subjects. So both teams can help each other. Finally, there is little evidence for the class but it is important to put it here, it is easy to see but it is worth working on a topic that really interests us.
