Honestly, upon arrival at the University of Monterey it was that when I was interested in literature in Spanish. For my Spanish class 426 "Narrativa Hispanoamericana". It was a challenge for me, for the reason that it was a lot of reading and with a night job. But the interesting thing was that I know new authors and interesting novels. First, the story that he liked very much was "El árbol" by Elena Garro, one of the reasons that an internal monologue, the gender roles, where two women one of high class Marta and Luisa the poor woman and of indigenous origin. Luisa, she is a victim of domestic violence, on the part of her husband Julián. In the conversation between Marta and Luisa. The contempt of Marta with Luisa is clearly seen. At the end of the story, there is a reversal of roles, where Luisa takes control over Marta. Marta is killed by Luisa. Other novels that we had the opportunity to read was "La fiesta del chivo” tells the dictatorship of the Dominican Republic and the cruel mistreatment of Haitians who seek better life and many of them were killed. A very sad thing was when "Él chivo" or "Jefe" ordered to kill the Mirabal Sisters, who were in their dictatorship. Another writer I love his stories by Julio Cortázar, in class I could enjoy, apart from the teacher explained and was very exciting his stories: "Axolotl, La casa tomada, Rayola, La noche boca arriba and La isla a medio día:
One of my short-term goals is to read "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel García Márquez and the written books we saw in Borges' class, I did like them, but it was very difficult to understand them. I'm going to propose to read again. Finally, we had a group presentation about Rosario Ferré, we talked about her life, her achievements and the book "Maldito amor". It was a very interesting class, I learned a lot from literature class.
